Bangladesh, Aug. 1 -- Bangladeshi-origin NYPD officer Didarul Islam, who was killed in a shooting in New York City, has been buried.
His funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at the Parkchester Mosque in the Bronx, attended by thousands of mourners.
As Didar's body was being taken for burial, four police helicopters flew overhead in a show of respect.
Earlier, New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch posthumously promoted him to the rank of First Grade Detective.
Didarul was originally from Kulaura in Moulvibazar and had served with the NYPD for nearly three and a half years. He lived in New York with his parents, two sons, and wife.
