Dhaka, Dec. 12 -- The Malaysian High Court has sentenced a Bangladeshi man to 10 years in prison after he admitted to supporting the militant group Islamic State (IS) on Facebook, according to a report by Free Malaysia Today.
Justice Azhar Abdul Hamid delivered the verdict on Friday.
The sentence for the 29-year-old restaurant worker Mohammad Didarul Alam will start from the date of his arrest on Jul 21.
In the ruling, the judge said: "The accused is also ordered to be deported to his home country upon completing his prison sentence."
Free Malaysia Today reported that Didarul was accused of using a Facebook account under the name "Al Mubin Islam" to express support for IS.
