Dhaka, Jan. 14 -- Foreign Advisor Touhid Hossain has said an investigation will be carried out into allegations that a large number of postal ballots were distributed from a residence in Bahrain.

Responding to questions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, the advisor said he was aware of the issue and that an inquiry had already been instructed.

A video circulating on social media claimed that postal ballots were being distributed from the home of a Jamaat-e-Islami leader in Bahrain.

The issue was also raised by the BNP during a meeting with the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday, where the party alleged that a "particular group" abroad was controlling ballot papers and there were flaws in the postal voting process.
