Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- The Advisory Council on Government Procurement has approved importing 50,000 tonnes of parboiled, non-Basmati, rice from India.
At its meeting on Thursday, the Council endorsed the purchase from Bagadiya Brothers at a price of $ 434.55 per tonne.
Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed attended the session.
Earlier, on Feb 19, a vessel carrying 23,000 tonnes of Atap rice imported from Myanmar arrived at Chattogram Port under a government-to-government agreement.
This shipment was part of a total 105,000-tonne rice import plan with Myanmar.
WAREHOUSE CONSTRUCTION APPROVED
The Council also approved a project to construct warehouses for fertiliser storage and distribution.
