Dhaka, June 8 -- The onset of the monsoon season is typically heralded by periods of continuous downpours but, in a surprising change of pace, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast a slight rise in temperatures over the next couple of days.
"As we're seeing sunny days and a decrease in rainfall, mild heatwaves may continue in some districts. The mild heatwave sweeping through Khulna, Jessore, and Chuadanga may expand slightly," Meteorologist Tariful Newaz Kabir said on Sunday.
"At the same time, since it's the monsoon season, there will be sporadic rainfall in some areas. However, the likelihood of widespread rain is low."
