Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- Bangladesh has reported two more dengue deaths in the past 24 hours, raising the tally of deaths to 200 this year.
This marks the fourth-highest annual death toll from dengue. In previous years, 179 people died in 2019, 105 in 2021, 281 in 2022, 1,705 in 2023 and 575 in 2024.
The health directorate bulletin on Wednesday said the latest victims were undergoing treatment at hospitals in Dhaka South and Dhaka North City Corporation.
Over the past 24 hours, 490 new patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue across the country, raising the total number of hospitalisations this year to 47,832.
September recorded the highest hospitalisation rates with 15,866 patients.
