Dhaka, July 5 -- Bangladesh has reported one death from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities this year to 24.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest victim was a man aged between 61 and 70. He passed away while receiving treatment at a government hospital in the Dhaka Division.
Six new cases were detected over a 24-hour period ending on Saturday morning after 239 samples were tested across the country. The positivity rate based on the tests was 2.51 percent.
Of the fresh cases, three were identified from 197 samples in the Dhaka Division, one from seven samples in Mymensingh, one from 29 samples in Chattogram, and one from five samples in Rangpur.
