Dhaka, April 6 -- The number of coronavirus cases in Bangladesh has surged to 123 after 35 positive tests were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Three more patients have died, taking the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak to 12, according to the health directorate.

Earlier, the government had put the tally of positive tests at 117 with a death toll of 13. But Abul Kalam Azad, the director general of health services, later revised the figures, citing confusion, in a media briefing on Monday.

This marks the biggest jump in fatalities and positive tests in a single day since the first cases of the coronavirus were reported in Bangladesh on Mar 8.
