Dhaka, Oct. 14 -- Hospitals in Bangladesh have recorded 2,047 new cases of deadly dengue fever in a day, taking the tally of infections this year to 237,251.The death toll from the mosquito-borne disease increased by 10 to 1,158 in the latest 24-hour count published by the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday.

Dhaka registered 460 new cases and five deaths while the districts outside the capital saw 1,587 new patients and five fatalities. Of the 8,336 patients receiving treatment in hospitals across Bangladesh in the morning, 2,509 were in Dhaka and 5,827 in other districts.
