Dhaka, June 18 -- Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours, while 18 new cases of infection have been reported, health authorities said.

The latest figures bring the total number of COVID deaths in the country this year to seven, with the total number of confirmed cases now at 331.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the two deceased, a man and a woman aged between 41 and 50, were from Dhaka and Chattogram.

One died while receiving treatment at a private hospital, while the other passed away at home.

A total of 312 samples were tested in the past 24 hours with an infection rate of 5.77 percent.
