Dhaka, July 5 -- The government has launched an online system for paying import and export duties in the new fiscal year.
The new facility allows customs duties to be paid directly into the government treasury through Automated Challan (A-Challan), the National Board of Revenue said in a statement.
Previously, taxpayers could pay duties via the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system only during specific hours of the day, and it would take several days for the funds to be deposited into the treasury.
With the new system, importers and exporters can now pay duties instantly from any location at any time, using the A-Challan, which will also help expedite the release of goods.
