Dhaka, Nov. 15 -- Bangladesh Police have begun distributing new uniforms, initially to a limited number of personnel.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Talebur Rahman said the uniform rollout began on Saturday and will be distributed to all members in phases.

Metropolitan police members will receive the uniform first, though on a limited scale. Range and metropolitan police members will wear an iron-grey uniform, replacing the previous one of blue and green.

Mohammadpur Police chief Kazi Rafique Ahmed said, "We haven't received the uniform yet, but hope to get it soon."

The interim government approved the updated attire following widespread calls for police reform in the wake of last year's political changeover.
