Dhaka, June 24 -- Bangladesh's High Commissioner to India M Riaz Hamidullah has paid a courtesy call on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.
According to the national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the meeting took place on Monday at "Nabanna", the administrative headquarters of the West Bengal government.
A media statement issued by the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata described the meeting as held in a "very warm and cordial atmosphere", during which Mamata extended greetings to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus and the people of Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Mamata expressed her hopes of strengthening the long-standing ties between the two countries.
