Dhaka, Dec. 18 -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has briefed foreign diplomats over updated preparation and security measures for the upcoming general elections and referendum.

It organised the briefing at the State Guest House Padma on Thursday.

In the briefing, the diplomats were informed that the Election Commission would welcome foreign election observers and invited them to be sent.

In addition, they were briefed that the law-enforcing agencies, including the Armed Forces, were always vigilant and diligent in maintaining law and order. In this context, the foreign missions were assured about their security.

As many as 40 diplomats from foreign embassies in Dhaka were present at the briefing.
