Dhaka, June 17 -- Bangladesh has begun relocating diplomats and citizens from Tehran, citing security concerns following Israeli airstrikes in Iran, the foreign ministry has announced.

At a press briefing on Tuesday, Acting Foreign Secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique said the government is working to move both embassy staff and Bangladeshi nationals living in the Iranian capital to safer locations.

"Among the approximately 2,000 Bangladeshis in Iran, around 400 are currently in Tehran," Ruhul said.

"We are particularly concerned for those in the capital, as they may be at risk from the ongoing attacks. We are actively working to ensure the safety of our citizens and embassy personnel."
