Dhaka, June 28 -- Negotiations and consultations are ongoing between Bangladesh and the United States to finalise an agreement on reciprocal tariffs.

According to a media statement issued Saturday by the chief advisor's press wing, the latest round of talks took place last Thursday in Washington, DC.

National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman headed the Bangladesh contingent in the negotiations, while US Assistant Trade Representative Brendan Lynch led the US delegation.

Khalilur, a former trade policy chief of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), said: "We held highly constructive discussions with the US delegation. Both sides are making serious efforts to finalise the agreement expeditiously."
