Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- Despite a slight rise in temperatures, Bangladesh is gripped by a sharp winter chill, with dense fog keeping the sunshine at bay.

According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the current conditions are likely to persist for few more days, with a cold wave expected to sweep across parts of the country by the middle of the week.

Assistant Meteorologist Afroza Sultana said on Sunday that temperatures had risen slightly in different regions over the past 24 hours, but dense fog meant the cold still felt intense.

She added that similar conditions were expected on Sunday and Monday, with night temperatures likely to fall slightly on Tuesday.
