Dhaka, Feb. 21 -- A road construction project meant to improve connectivity in Madaripur has drawn sharp criticism after residents uncovered banana trunks placed inside the foundation of a guide wall.

The incident occurred at the Charkakair intersection in the Shiruail Union under a project by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED).

The matter came to light after local residents spotted the anomaly and shared it on social media, sparking widespread outrage across the district.

A visit to the site near Charkakair Mosque revealed that banana trunks had been placed underneath the brickwork of the guide wall in multiple sections.

Locals also alleged that the bricks and pillars used in the project were of poor quality.
