Dhaka, Dec. 12 -- The Election Commission (EC) has restored four constituencies in Bagerhat after a court ruling, issuing a revised gazette that also cuts one seat from Gazipur.

The revised notification for the 300-seat parliamentary boundary was released on Thursday.

Signed by EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, the gazette confirms that Bagerhat now regains an additional seat, taking the district back to four constituencies.

To accommodate this adjustment, Gazipur's allocation has been reduced to five seats.

Earlier, the High Court had declared the gazette reducing Bagerhat's constituencies "illegal".

The Appellate Division later upheld that decision, paving the way for the EC to reissue the corrected boundary list.
