Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- A Dhaka court has remanded former Dhaka North City Corporation mayor Atiqul Islam, former Exim Bank chairman and NASSA Group chief Nazrul Islam Mazumder, former additional deputy commissioner Shahen Shah, and Dhaka North Jubo Mohila League General Secretary Shamima Akhter in a series of cases linked to the July uprising.

On Monday morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Jakir Hossain issued the remand orders granting law-enforcing agencies varying periods to question them in custody.

The court sent Atiqul on a four-day remand in a case linked to the killing of Shohag Mia under the capital's Bhatara Police Station.
