Dhaka, July 9 -- The interim government is preparing to amend a controversial provision in the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, following weeks of vocal protests by civil servants, particularly those based at the Secretariat.

The clause in question, seen by many as vague and potentially repressive, has drawn widespread criticism for allegedly creating avenues for harassment and arbitrary disciplinary action.

While the revised ordinance has yet to be published officially in the government gazette, union leaders representing civil servants say they have been unofficially briefed on the proposed amendments and even shown a draft copy.
