Dhaka, Jan. 26 -- A court has issued arrest warrants against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 40 other absconding suspects in two cases over the killings of freight truck driver Md Hossain and autorickshaw driver Shobuj in Dhaka's Mohammadpur during the 2024 July Uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam indicted 64 suspects in the two cases on Monday. Of them, 41 suspects were shown as "absconding" and he ordered arrest warrants against them.

Prosecutor Harun Or Rashid and Quayyum Hossain Nayan represented the state at the hearing.

Hasina, who is currently in India, is accused in both cases. She has been registered as an "absconding" suspect in both.
