Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- An organisation named Inqilab Moncho has urged the BNP not to align with India and the "Shahbaghis".

The term "Shahbaghi" is associated with the Shahbagh movement, which began in February 2013, when activists gathered in Dhaka's Shahbagh to demand the death penalty for war criminals from the 1971 Liberation War.

At a press conference at the University of Dhaka on Monday, the organisation's spokesperson Sharif Osman bin Hadi said: "BNP should not have any hopes of aligning with India to come to power.

"The Awami League has fled to India, but BNP has no place there either.

"I request you not to side with the Shahbaghis and stand against the people."
