Dhaka, March 16 -- The Anti-Corruption Commission, or ACC, has approved a case against former information minister and ex-Kushtia-2 MP Hasanul Haq Inu and his wife, Afroza Haq, over allegations of amassing wealth beyond means.

It has also decided to launch an inquiry into former Gopalganj-2 MP Sheikh Selim on similar charges.

ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhtar Hossain briefed journalists on these developments on Sunday.

CASE AGAINST INU

The case accuses Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, or JaSad, President Inu of "abuse of power and criminal misconduct" to unlawfully acquire Tk 48.42 million in assets.

In addition, suspicious transactions amounting to Tk 118.81 million have been detected in four of his bank accounts.
