Dhaka, Nov. 20 -- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned former captain of the National Cricket Team Shakib Al Hasan, ex-MP of the Magura-1 constituency, for questioning in a criminal case on charges of allegedly manipulating the stock market to embezzle billions.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain told reporters on Thursday, "Shakib has been asked to appear at the ACC head office at 10am on Nov 26 and give a statement."
A total of 15 people will be questioned in the ACC case separately on Nov 25 and Nov 26.
The allegations include manipulating the market by speculation and other means, artificially increasing the share prices of certain companies, and luring ordinary investors in and forcing them into financial losses....
