Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- The Anti-Corruption Commission, or ACC, has prosecuted Shubid Ali Bhuiyan, a former MP from the Comilla-1 constituency, for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.
His wife Mahmuda Akhtar and son Mohammad Ali have also been accused in the case.
ACC Director General Md Akhtar Hossain informed reporters they have been accused of owning "assets beyond means" worth Tk 88.40 million.
The anti-graft agency has also alleged suspicious transactions worth Tk 3.21 billion in their bank accounts.
According to the First Information Report, or FIR, the "illicit" assets of Shubid, a retired major general, and his wife are Tk 65.9 million and Tk 18.32 million, respectively, and his son Ali has undisclosed assets worth Tk 42.5 million.
