Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- A woman married in Bangladesh has rushed to the border after receiving news of her father's death in India, but barbed wire fencing stood in the way as she had no travel documents.

Later, after the matter was raised with border authorities, troops from both sides held a flag meeting to allow her a final glimpse of her father.

Lt Col Saifullah Siddiqui, commanding officer of Jashore-49 BGB Battalion, said the body of Indian national Jabbar Mondal, 75, was brought on Wednesday afternoon near the main pillar 25/6-S at Dhanyakhola border in Sharsha Upazila after the meeting.

Jabbar's daughter Mitu Mondal, 38, who lives in Bangladesh following her marriage, and other relatives bid him a final farewell there.
