Dhaka, March 10 -- Police have detained two youths for allegedly raping a six-year-old child in Habiganj's Baniachong.

The incident occurred in Banamthura village in South Jatrapasha on Sunday, according to Prabash Kumar Singha, additional superintendent of police of the Habiganj (Baniachong Circle). The girl's grandmother filed a written complaint with the Baniachong Police Station on Monday.

The girl was rescued and admitted to the Baniachong Upazila Health Complex. When her condition deteriorated, she was transferred to the Habiganj District Sadar Modern Hospital.

Two teenage boys from nearby Banamthura village have been detained in connection with the incident.
