Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- A total of 591 people have been arrested on the fourth day of the ongoing nationwide crackdown, Operation Devil Hunt, according to the Police Headquarters.

It also confirmed the recovery of eight firearms, ammunition, and locally made weapons in the last 24 hours, in a statement sent on Wednesday evening.

In addition, 1,095 suspects were arrested under other cases and warrants during the same period, bringing the total number of arrests to 1,686.

However, police did not specify the charges for those arrested in the special operation.

On the fourth day, police recovered a pistol, a Chinese rifle, two LGs, four one-shooter guns, 20 rounds of ammunition, and 20 crude bombs.
