Dhaka, May 25 -- Four individuals injured in the July Uprising have attempted suicide by ingesting poison during a meeting at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital in Dhaka, according to police and hospital officials.

Imamul Haque, chief of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, confirmed the incident took place on Sunday afternoon.

The individuals-identified with single names as Shimul, Maruf, Sagar, and Akhtar Hossain-were transferred to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.

Dr Khair Ahmed Choudhury, director of the National Institute of Ophthalmology, said the incident occurred during a meeting with the newly appointed CEO of the July Foundation.
