Dhaka, June 8 -- Dhaka's two city corporations have reported the removal of 33,959 tonnes of sacrificial animal waste by noon on the second day of Eid-ul-Azha.

In separate statements issued on Sunday afternoon, both city corporations shared the waste removal figures and said the clean-up operations were still under way.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) spokesman Rasel Rahman said around 20,785 tonnes of sacrificial animal waste had been dumped at the Matuail Sanitary Landfill as of 2pm.

On the other hand, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) reported that a total of 13,174 tonnes of waste had been removed by 3pm, alongside the completion of 2,580 waste-carrying truck trips to the Aminbazar landfill.
