Dhaka, July 3 -- Three members of a family - a mother, her son, and her daughter - have been beaten to death in Cumilla's Muradnagar over allegations of involvement in "the drug trade".

The incident occurred at Koroibari village in the Upazila's Bangra Bazar Thana around 9am on Thursday, according to Mahfuzur Rahman, chief of the local police station.

The dead have been identified as Roksana Akhtar Rubi, 55, her son Rasel Mia, 28, and her daughter Jonaki Akhtar, 22.

Another person was injured in the beating, but their identity has yet to be confirmed.
