Dhaka, Jan. 9 -- Police have detained 18 people in Naogaon on charges of question paper leaks and fraud in the recruitment exams for assistant teachers at government primary schools.

Naogaon District Police Superintendent Mohammad Tarequl Islam revealed the matter at a press conference around 7pm on Friday.

The syndicate of people had made deals with examinees to collect up to Tk 1.8 million per person, promising to provide the question papers.

Police seized 11 mobile phones and Tk 37,948 in cash.

A joint operation led to the arrests in Naogaon town, including the ringleaders of the question paper leak ring, Ahsan Habib and Mamunur Rashid. Among those detained were examinees, fake examinees, and guardians.
