Dhaka, May 27 -- The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for four divisions, cautioning that intense downpours over the next 72 hours could trigger landslides in five hilly districts.
In a special bulletin issued Monday, the BMD said "heavy to very heavy rainfall" is expected in Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions starting from 10am Wednesday due to active atmospheric convection.
The Met Office also warned of potential landslides in Chattogram, Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachhari, and Cox's Bazar.
According to the BMD, rainfall exceeding 88mm in 24 hours is categorised as "very heavy".
