Dhaka, Oct. 1 -- A public housing building in New York's South Bronx has partially collapsed in what authorities suspect to be a gas explosion, reports USA Today.
The New York Fire Department said they received reports of an explosion at a 20-storey New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) building around 8:10am local time on Wednesday.
According to USA Today, the incinerator shaft's collapse led to a gas leak.
NYCHA said the blast originated from a chimney inside the Mitchel Houses complex.
The damage has so far been limited to the exterior of the chimney, though teams are still assessing the situation, said USA Today.
No casualties have been reported as firefighting and emergency crews continue operations at the site.
