Dhaka, Nov. 21 -- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) says it has arrested "notorious criminal" Monir Hossain aka "Roktochosha Jony" ("Bloodthirsty Jony") from Dhaka's Mohammadpur with makeshift weapons.

He was arrested on Thursday night, according to Shamsul Islam, additional superintendent of police for RAB-2.

"Jony and his group have been carrying out extortion, beatings, criminal activities and weapons training in different parts of Mohammadpur for a long time through intimidation. There are multiple cases against Jony."

The RAB official said that a press conference will be held at the RAB-2 Bosila office on Friday afternoon to present further details.
