United Kingdom, Aug. 7 -- President Donald Trump is set to announce that Apple will invest an additional $100 billion in U.S. manufacturing.

According to Bloomberg, the White House will reveal details of a new manufacturing initiative that aims to bring more of Apple's supply chain back to the U.S.

The programme reportedly includes plans to produce more critical components domestically, bolstering both economic and national security goals.

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement: "President Trump's America First economic agenda has secured trillions of dollars in investments that support American jobs and bolster American businesses.

"Today's announcement with Apple is another win for our manufacturing industry."
