United Kingdom, May 12 -- Mexico is suing Google for renaming the Gulf of Mexico on its platform.
Claudia Sheinbaum, the President of Mexico, has announced plans to sue the technology giant, after Google recently chose to rename the body of water the Gulf of America.
Google made the change to its maps service for US users after President Donald Trump signed an executive order in January, calling for the body of water's name to be changed to the Gulf of America.
Sheinbaum subsequently wrote a letter to Google, urging the American technology firm to reconsider its stance on the issue. And in February, the Mexican President went one step further, threatening Google with legal action over the name change.
