United Kingdom, Aug. 28 -- Google has announced plans to invest an additional $9 billion in Virginian data centres through 2026.

The tech giant confirmed that the new commitment will fund the construction of a fresh facility in Chesterfield County, alongside major expansions at its existing campuses in Loudoun and Prince William counties.

Virginia has long been a hub for cloud and AI data centres, with Loudoun - dubbed "Data Center Alley" - housing the highest concentration of such facilities in the U.S.

Google said in a statement: "This investment reflects our commitment to building infrastructure that supports the growing demand for cloud and AI services while driving innovation and economic growth in Virginia."
