United Kingdom, May 22 -- Google and Samsung have collaborated to create an Android desktop mode.
The American tech titan's engineering manager, Florina Muntenescu, confirmed during Google I/O's developer keynote meeting that it and the South Korean electronics firm are "building on the foundation" of Samsung DeX to "bring enhanced desktop windowing capabilities" in Android 16.
Samsung Dex, which was launched in 2017, allows customers who have high-end handheld devices to "extend their device into a desktop-like experience by connecting a keyboard, mouse, and monitor".
During the keynote on May 20, the layout had app icons placed in the middle of the taskbar, which is located at the bottom of the screen.
