United Kingdom, Oct. 31 -- Embark Studios CCO Stefan Strandberg has defended the use of artificial intelligence in developing Arc Raiders, saying "there's no shortcut to making great games".

Strandberg, who is also the studio's co-founder - defended Embark's use of AI-assisted tools in making its new multiplayer shooter, arguing they enhance - not replace - human creativity.

Speaking with Eurogamer, he said: "We use AI as tools to assist in some content creation. But it's always in the context of creativity, as an expression of the team."

Embark previously drew criticism for using text-to-speech (TTS) systems in The Finals, blending real voice acting with AI-generated dialogue to speed up production.
