United Kingdom, Aug. 5 -- Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, Craig Federighi, has promised that Siri's upcoming overhaul will be a "much bigger upgrade than we envisoned".

During a rare all-hands meeting at Apple's Cupertino headquarters, Federighi explained the company's decision to scrap an earlier hybrid approach for Siri - which combined Apple's legacy voice assistant logic with new generative AI tools.

Instead, Apple is now building Siri on a completely new end-to-end architecture.

As reported by Bloomberg, Federighi said: "This has put us in a position to not just deliver what we announced, but to deliver a much bigger upgrade than we envisioned.
