United Kingdom, Sept. 9 -- James Bond will need to "earn" his iconic theme song in 007: First Light.

Developer IO Interactive has taken a decision to limit the Bond franchise's beloved theme in the upcoming video game, which focuses on a young version of the fictional MI6 spy.

Audio and missions director Dominic Vega told Eurogamer: "60 years of Bond, there's a lot of sonic iconography."

Given the fresh faced take on 007, the team wants to strike a balance where Bond has to "earn his themes".

Vega added: "Throughout the campaign he grows, and he's earning his number - and he's earning his themes."
