United Kingdom, Dec. 19 -- Zooey Deschanel was left "devastated" by Rob Reiner's passing.

The acclaimed filmmaker and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were both found dead at their Los Angeles home on Sunday (14.12.25), and Zooey has admitted to being heartbroken over the tragedy.

Zooey - who starred alongside Rob on New Girls for six years - told People: "He was just one of those people where you think, 'I cannot believe I get to work with this person'. He was so kind. He was fatherly to all of us."

The actress explained that Rob was loved and respected by his co-stars.

She said: "Everybody in the New Girl community loved him. Actors from the show - everyone from the show is devastated."
