United Kingdom, Dec. 10 -- The Mavericks singer Raul Malo has died aged 60.

The Dance The Night Away hitmaker - who co-founded the band in 1989 with Paul Deakin, Robert Reynolds and Ben Peller - passed away on Monday (08.12.25) after a battle with colon cancer.

In a post to Malo's Instagram account, his wife Betty wrote: "At 8:52 pm on December 8th, 2025, my love. our boys' father. a devoted son and brother. and a friend to so many, gained his angel wings.

"He was called to do another gig - this time in the sky - and he's flying high like an eagle."

Betty - who had sons Dino, Victor and Max with the "beloved" musician - paid tribute to the way he embraced "life and love".

She continued: "No one embodied life and love, joy and passion...
