United Kingdom, Jan. 20 -- The Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno was banned from speaking in the 1970s series because he had a New York accent.

The show - based on the Marvel Comics character created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby - ran between 1977 and 1982 and was repeated throughout the '80s as well as spawning a series of television films.

It was created by Kenneth Johnson and followed mild mannered scientist David Banner - played by Bill Bixby - trying to live his life without getting angry and turning into the enraged Hulk, played by Ferrigno.

Bixby as Banner was famous for his line "you wouldn't like me when I'm angry" and was a global hit.
