United Kingdom, Feb. 10 -- Teddi Mellencamp has encouraged her social media followers to "get checked" for cancer.

The 44-year-old TV star has taken to social media to mark one year since doctors discovered "plum-sized stage 4 tumours on [her] brain" and to urge her fans to get themselves checked out for potential problems.

Alongside a throwback photo from her hospital bed, Teddi wrote on Instagram: "A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain.
