United Kingdom, Sept. 3 -- Sophie Turner is set to play Lara Croft in Prime Video's new Tomb Raider series.

The 29-year-old actress - who is best known for playing Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones - has been confirmed as the new Lara Croft, after seeing off competition from the likes of Mackenzie Davis, Emma Mackey and Lucy Boynton for the role.

Sophie said in a statement: "I am thrilled beyond measure to be playing Lara Croft. She's such an iconic character, who means so much to so many - and I am giving everything I've got."

Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander have both previously played the character in movies, and Sophie cannot wait to follow in their footsteps.

The actress is also looking forward to working with Phoebe Waller-Bridge...
