United Kingdom, Jan. 24 -- Sir David and Victoria Beckham "would take [their son] Brooklyn back in a minute".

The 50-year-old former footballer and his 51-year-old fashion designer wife were horrified after Brooklyn lashed out at them in a scathing six-page Instagram post, where he insisted he doesn't want to reconcile due to their poor relationship with his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.

However, the pair - who also have sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14, together - want to fix their relationship with Brooklyn and are "afraid of losing their son".

A source told PEOPLE: "They are afraid of losing their son and would take him back in a minute. They are a close family, too. Just in a different way than Nicola's family is....
