United Kingdom, Sept. 23 -- Nev Schulman has apologised to fans Catfish was cancelled after nine seasons.
The longrunning reality show - which investigated deceptive online relationships - has been scrapped by MTV 13 years after the first series aired, and Nev and his former co-star Max Joseph have confirmed the news.
In a video shared on Instagram, Nev said: "After 12 years, 300 episodes and just a lot of traveling around this incredible country, Catfish has officially been cancelled.
"Sorry."
Despite the disappointing news, Max - who left the show in 2018 - suggested the show could just be "on pause" if another network is willing to take it on.
